Gemma Communications was established in December 1999 to provide large scale, quality-focused outbound sales operations to some of the world’s largest financial institutions.

Today, we provide outbound and inbound sales, e-commerce support, customer care and many other services to some of the most recognized brands in the world.  Our leadership team is made up of innovative leaders who have extensive and diverse industry experience, and are well-positioned to support and serve our clients.

We have offices in both Canada and the US, and strategic partnerships that provide us with multinational reach. All of our locations are equipped to provide our full range of services, as well as the utmost security and protection of your data.


Gemma Communications is 100% owned by Dealnet Capital. Dealnet is an engagement and consumer finance company, headquartered in Toronto with offices across North America.

Dealnet (DLS) is publicly traded on the TSX Venture Exchange.


Michael Hilmer

CEO & Director

After several years with Wood Gundy financial services, Mr. Hilmer moved to MCI Systemhouse with responsibility for large financial services customers. In 2000, Mr. Hilmer founded Millennium Care, a call centre outsourcing and software company. Mr. Hilmer acquired the OC Communications Group of Companies in 2008 and successfully turned them into a strong solutions provider for the financial services, utilities, retail, telecom and pharmaceutical industries.

Paul Leonard


Mr. Leonard brings has an extensive background in the financial services industry with a deep understanding of consumer lending. Most recently, Mr. Leonard was Chief Financial Officer of CFF Bank, a Canadian schedule 1 bank that had approximately $245 million in assets and over $1.5 billion in loans under administration. Prior, Mr. Leonard was the Chief Financial Officer of Ally Credit Canada which offered savings products, retail and wholesale auto loans and residential mortgages through both direct and indirect channels. Ally had over $13 billion in assets before being acquired by Royal Bank of Canada. In addition, he was founding Chief Financial Officer of ING DIRECT, an innovator in offering direct to consumer savings and lending products. Mr. Leonard is a Chartered Accountant and CPA. He holds a Bachelors of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto

John Leon

SVP Engagement

John has extensive hi-tech experience with different corporations: He worked for 15 years at Nortel Networks in various functions; his last position was VP-GM of Nortel’s Wireless Solutions Group in Canada. After leaving Nortel, John held the position of VP, Sales & Marketing at Unique Broadband Systems and VP Sales & Marketing for OnMobile Systems, a Silicon Valley start-up. John has an honors B.A.Sc. (Chemical Engineering) and MBA degrees from University of Toronto, and is a member of Professional Engineers of Ontario.

Terri Mitchell

V.P. & General Manager Contact Centres

Terri is proud of the more than 15 years she has been working in the contact center and CRM industries. Since joining OCI she has successfully managed the operations of the entire OCI portfolio as delivered out of our Canadian operations facilities .

Andy Tsalkos

Chief Client Officer

Andy has been successfully implementing contact centre solutions for over 20 years. He has diverse industry experience in Financial Services, Insurance, Retail, Telecom and Utilities. An industry leader in understanding the science and metrics of contact centres, Andy has the ability to draw on his experiences and technical strengths to develop innovative strategic solutions that are well balanced in achieving our client’s objectives of revenue growth, cost efficiencies, customer experience and compliance.

Tim Strike

VP IT Development

Tim joined the company in 2003 and leads the IT and Development teams for all Dealnet companies, including Gemma. Prior to joining the company, Tim worked as Director of Product Development for ZAQ Interactive, an online media company. He also worked as a software developer, network and systems architect, and development manager for various companies including Royal Bank of Canada and Targetnet Inc. Tim has an honors B.Sc. degree from Queens University in Computer Science and Mathematics.

Stefania Badea

Vice-President, Human Resources and Education

Stefania has successfully created and maintained strategic Human Resources functions in national and global organizations for more than 15 years. Her work experience includes leading the HR function through significant organizational changes in the Professional Services, Retail and Restaurant industries. Her areas of expertise include change management, organizational redesign, talent selection, management training and development, and health and safety.
